American Radio Relay League
Saturday, 10 November 2007

As the official ARES parent organization,arrl_clear.png we would like to thank the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) for helping to establish and sponsoring Kaufman County Amateur Radio Emergency Service, Inc. and working to help us meet our goal of helping others.  The largest benefit of being a member of the ARRL as an organization is the large amount of members and support we are able to tap into when needed.

The ARRL was formed in 1914 by Hiram Percy Maxim, to meet the need of an organization to band together this fledgling group of radio experimenters, that were now being licensed by the FCC.  Today, the ARRL represents over 150,000+ members and the entire family of amateur radio operators in the United States in regards to matters related to radio and amateur operations.

The ARRL has a long history of helping get people into ham radio operation and for support those that have their license.  Since the beginning of both radio and amateur radio, there has alway be a recognized need for public service.  Early attempts where taken to provide these services to the public, when in 1935, the ARRL created the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) to serve as a public service to the nation during emergenices and crisis, some 17+ years before the FCC and the federal goverment created the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES), with the assistances of the ARRL.  This just shows a long history of amateurs willing to volunteer to help others.

We wish to thank them for assisting with our ARES program and our amateur club program which will continue to serve the public in times of need and be there for others.
