We would like to thank JoomlaPlug.com for their donate to our
Joomla! website project. They donate a copy of JoomlaCloner, which
will be used with our websites to perform routine backups. As anyone that works with computers knows, making backups on the regular basis is a very good decision.
With a Joomla! based website, depending on your server, you maybe be able to make general backups using your server settings, but sometimes its harder to restore a site using those backups and its almost impossible to move your site from one server to another. Using JoomlaCloner, that changes everything and opens a whole new world. Not only does JoomlaCloner create a backup of the entire site, including the database, but you can include or exclude anything on your server that you want.
Getting ready to move to a new server, no problem either. You choice the correct options and it will include a installation file that will allow you to completely restore or move your site to a new server. In fact, we used it to move several of our sites from one hosting company to another and were very pleased with the results. Out of 12 sites, we only had 1 that gave us any trouble and it ended up being a server issue. If you have not created a proper backup of your Joomla! site, the time is now and we would recommend that you try JoomlaCloner or the newer XCloner 2.0. These programs are designed to be used with Joomla! 1.0.x (JoomlaCloner) and Joomla! 1.5 (JoomlaCloner in Legacy, XCloner is native).
