   Since we started using Joomla! to run our sites, we have tried out various text editors to use on our sites.  Joomla! is a Content Management System (CMS) that handles nearly all of the formatting for your site, but you use a text editor to add the content to you pages.  Joola! comes with a very basic text editor or two and you can locate many different ones at the Joomla! website, including Joomla Content Editor (JCE).  Since we started using Joomla!, we have tried several of these text editors and find that JCE is outstanding.

    Mr. Demmer from JCE has been very helpful in getting us setup using JCE and helping to answer any questions or concerns that we have very quickly.  JCE builds on the basics of the original text editors included with Joomla!, but expands them to be a very powerful tool.  JCE has several different addons to even further enhance its function.  Some of these addons include:

• Captions - Create Caption boxes around images
• File Manager - Create links to files with icon, date and size labels
• IFrames - Create & insert inline-frames (iframes)
• Image Manager Extended - All the features of the Image Manager but with resizing, thumbnailing and easy popup creation
• Media Manager - Insert and manage media elements such Flash, Quicktime, Windows Media etc
• Template Manager - JCE Template Manager Plugin
• With possible more to come or maybe available from 3rd parties.

    We love using this as its allows us to add an image to a page and then include a caption under the photo and then a link to open it in a light box to make it easier to view.  We use the file manager to link to various files on our site and love the ability to include an icon for the tyoe of file that it is, such as a PDF file, the file size and date.  That is a great benefit to people on slow connections.

    We have used all of the extensions that are avilable and just continue to be amazed as its ability to handle our sites and needs for us.  So if you have not tried JCE, please give it a shot today.
