search_off.png    If you have a website, then you know about Archives.  If you are using Joomla!, then you know about the diffucluty of having a user friendly archive system.  Thanks to the support of iJoomla, Southern Search & Rescue, Inc. and its divisions websites are now being setup with a user friendly archive system.

iJoomla donated a copy of their iJoomla:Search&Archive Component, which can be setup in many configurations that will meet the needs of almost any website out there.  We have started using it on the Kaufman County ARES, Inc. website and will be adding it to others in the very near future.  If you see an menu or link item to Arvhices on our sites, it will most likely point to the component.

ijoomla_logo.png     If you run a Joomla! website, this product is a most.  With the default Joomla! installation, the archives are setup to be used by selecting a year and month, but some websites are not designed like that, unless they are a news/magazine type website.  By using iJoomla:Search&Archive, you can actually have all the archived items listed on a page, by year, category or section, by the week and more.  The options are almost limitless.

We have setup our up to show the Categories, weeks in the past month and all archives in each year.  Now our visitors will not have to try and remember a date of an article, they can just visit the year, if they can remember it or just choose the category which will list all the archived items for it.

Some of the benefits of using iJoomla:Search&Archive are:

  • ull Feature list

Full feature list of iJoomla Search & Archive

  • Archive Page

iJoomla Search & Archive allows publishers to display a highly organized archive page, making it simple for users to find vintage content. Readers can browse your site by looking at all or some of these zones:

    • Sections & Categories
    • Years and month
    • Last 7 days
    • Last 4 weeks
    • By Author
    • Magazines & issues (with iJoomla magazine)
  • Search Page

The iJoomla Search & Archive extension brings a new level of search to your site. Compare the regular Joomla search page with the iJoomla search page. Not only do users receive more options on the search page itself, but they also get more in the search results.

  • Search Results

With iJoomla Search & Archive, you can fully control your search results, from the elements to include (such as date, author, category, etc.) to the color of the background. You can even show a thumbnail of the article, automatically generated from your content item's images, include the article's word count, allow linking to more articles from the same section/category/author, etc. and a whole lot more. It's like Search on steroids.

  • Colorful Results

Any keyword entered into the search box will appear highlighted in the search results. Multiple keywords will appear in different colors (up to a maximum of ten, after which the colors will repeat.) Highlight color is customizable on the backend, by selecting the "Color" tab and choosing the background color and text color for the first, second, third etc. keywords.

  • JoomFish Support

iJoomla Search & Archive is completely compatible with JoomFish. Install a language in your language manager and when your visitors select that language from the drop down menu on the front end, both the archive and the search page will be displayed in that language.

  • Search Module

iJoomla Search & Archive includes a free search module which is very similar to the core Joomla search module. Our module however generates results from the iJoomla Search & Archive component and therefore offers additional features. Simply replace your current search module with the iJoomla Search & Archive module and place it in the same position.

  • Full Integration With iJoomla Magazine And iJoomla News Portal

iJoomla Search & Archive has been created at the special request of our iJoomla Magazine and iJoomla News Portal customers. Naturally, this component works smoothly with both those two popular extensions.
